Phillipsburg, in Warren County, is a town rich in history and possibility. First named on a map in 1754, the town is located at the forks of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. It was the starting point for the ambitious Morris Canal that extended transportation routes from the Delaware RIver to Jersey City on the Hudson. Phillipsburg's heritage and riverside location make it a fine destination for the tourist interested in history, commerce and recreation such as canoeing and kayaking. The Phillipsburg Downtown Association (PDA), a non-profit corporation, has been working for over 10 years to bring attention to the benefits of this historical area and support efforts to revitalize businesses and residences along the Main Street corridor and surrounding area. The organization has a board of trustees, which includes representatives from the legal, banking, tourism, education, marketing, clergy and business communities in Phillipsburg. The PDA is a member of the Skylands of New Jersey Tourism Council and the Lehigh Valley Convention and Visitor's Bureau. Each year the PDA sponsors a series of events that bring both residents and visitors to the downtown area. These events highlight both business and tourist attractions.
